Çal Karası is one of the wine grape variety grown in Denizli-Çal region of
Aegean.
Trained using the goblet system, the vines grow in the low fertile,
clayish, chalky, sandy soil of the tablelands of the Denizli district, 750 -
1200 meters above sea level. Even so, this area is affected by the climate of
Mediterranean.
Çal Karası used mostly in the production of rose wines, is a light-colored,
fleshy, juicy red wine grape. Once they have matured their acidity is very good.
The specific aromas of the wine produced from Çal Karası are strawberry,
raspberry and rose. The wine is well balanced, fruity with medium to high
acidity.
The dry rose that Kavaklıdere produces, Lal, and the sparkling wine, Pembe Köpük,
are made from Çal Karası grapes and have all the characteristics of the grape.
Kavaklıdere Winery, Turkey’s leader in innovative wine production, produced the
country’s first semi-sweet rose wine, Rosato.
