Gamay



This variety is from the French region of Bourgogne.

The grape has a vivid purple red colour. It produces a low to medium bodied, fruity red wines with a high acidity revealing typical aromas of red cherry, strawberry and spice. Especially used for wines that are to be consumed young, using the carbonic maceration method, Beaujolais Nouveau, from the Beaujolais region carries the aroma of banana and tropical fruits.

Good examples in world wine making are produced in France’s regions of the Beaujolais and Loire Valley. In Turkey it is grown in Thrace.
