CABERNET SAUVIGNON

Native to the French Bordeaux region, this variety is well-known for its high potential for quality and its adaptability to different climatic conditions.

If grown in a cool climate, the most prominent aromas of the wine are black currant, cedar and mint; if grown in a hot climate, black cherries and black olives are mostly detected. Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are very suitable for maturation in oak barrels while the wine gets the aromas of toasted bread, coffee, vanilla etc.

Good examples in world wine making are produced in France (Bordeaux, (Haut Medoc, Graves)), Italy, (Tuscany), Australia, New Zealand, USA (California), Chile, Argentina and South Africa.

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown in the Aegean region of our country, in Kavaklıdere Aegean-Pendore Vineyards, near İzmir (Çeşme and Urla) and Denizli Güney Plateau.

These grapes, first planted in 1993 - 1994, were brought as cuttings from France and as wild saplings from Turkey. A vast majority of the vineyards in the region were on large hillside rocky properties, filled in with earth to create terraces. The soil composition varies from and may contain clay, sand, calcer and a small amount of pebbles.

Egeo Cabernet Sauvignon is produced solely from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and matured in French oak barrels. Egeo Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot, Ancyra Cabernet Sauvignon-Syrah and Angora Red are blend wines produced from Cabernet Sauvignon.
